'See, I am doing a new thing...'

Hi everybody and welcome to my Pastor's blog.
I hope through these pages I can share with you my vision for this church

This year we began with the theme of change:

‘I am doing a new thing’
IS 43:19 ‘See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.’
IS 42:9 'See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you."

Doing a new thing was not invented by a life coach, but is God’s way of life!
Doing a new thing involves some old things:

Renewal:
Renewing is making everything new. OT renewal was in the form covenant relationship with God (e.g. PS 51). Spiritual renewal follows covenant: Renewal of the people of God leads to renewal of society and anticipates the renewal of all creation: ROM 8:19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated (renewed) from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
REV 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!"

Restoration:
Renewal and restoration return the individual, the church and society to the condition God intended for the sake of the nations: ISA 61:4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
AC 15:16 " `After this I will return and rebuild David's fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, AC 15:17 that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord.'

Revival:
Revival is a sovereign act of God. Revival happened in Israel several times. It has happened in history numerous times in America, Canada, Holland, Scotland, Wales; and the Hebrides. Revival spawns new movements like the Methodist movement in the UK and the Pentecostal movement in America which have spread world-wide.
What happened before can happen again in our time, certainly in a different way. We cannot make revival happen, but we can hasten it by our Christian lives and prayer. We act out what we want to see for the masses of people all around us.

Setting captives free:
ISA 42:6 "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; ISA 42:7 to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. Set free not just sin, but all limitation, the devil is the great 'limiter.'
Releasing people from limitation can be the most rewarding ministry of all
Sin, death and hell are the enemies of the human soul, producing selfishness and misery. Our mission is to bring hope in all its forms, salvation from sin and release into the destiny that God has planned for every human being – set free to rise up with God through Jesus Christ.

HOPE 08:
HOPE 08 is an initiative of many thousands of churches, organisations, networks and denominations, all working together for the good of our nation. We are part of this initiative along with our friends in the Church At Perton and many other churches locally.
Look out for us at the Carnival (May 5th) and with an American team of young people here June 22nd - July 3rd. Together we believe: 'GOD LOVES PERTON!'

God bless you,
Pastor Rob Pearson
